People of Lava make First Android-based TV?

Several weeks ago I wrote about Direct TV and Google teaming up to provide Google Search on their satellite TV service and that they were already testing it in homes. Now comes news that the first Android-based TV is soon to be released in the Swedish market. Now the question is, do you want to buy a TV from this volcanic-themed company?

According to AndroidandMe, the TV will include the following features:

42“ / 47″ / 55″ MediaTV
Full-HD 1920*1080 pixels
Backlight LED
Processor: SOPC100 (Cortex A8) 833MHz
Wireless keyboard
Optional USB periphials
Operating voltage: 100-240V AC, 50-60Hz

The TV will apparently use Android 1.5 and will come in 42", 47", and 55" units, with the 42" version being released first. Expect apps such as a browser, Google Maps, Youtube, Weather, Twitter, and Calendar. What will be available in terms of an app market has yet to be said.

According to the Gizmodo article, "The price of the Scandinavia 42" will be between €2,000 and €2,500 at the global sales-start in September." For that price, the TV is just SLIGHTLY out of my price range, but when we start seeing more of these TVs, I'm hoping that the prices will start dropping to something more manageable for those of us that don't have that kind of money lying around. However, the idea is interesting at least.
