Android Marshmallow: features and patches
Android Marshmallow has brought a host of new features to Android devices. Here we present a quick overview of what the subsequent updates have added and fixed. The first update, 6.0.1, has already rolled out to some devices. Find out what it does below.
First update: Android 6.0.1
Android One devices were the first to receive the 6.0.1 update, and Nexus devices followed soon after. Information on what the update adds and fixes is still rolling in. So far, we know that it adds 200 new emojis and brings a feature to the Nexus 5, 6, 7 and 9, which already existed on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P: pressing the power twice in quick succession to launch the camera. Whether the double press results in the camera loading or your device going to sleep remains a gamble, however.
Android 6.0.1 also bring fixes for two irritating problems. The first is related to the Direct Share menu, which had a loading issue, resulting in users frequently pressing the wrong button when the app share menu got pushed mostly out of view. It's still imperfect but shows a marked improvement.
The second fix is more significant, saving many users from immense frustration resulting from MMS message downloads starting and then never completing. The issue was related to apps having access to the MMS database. A reboot provided a short-term solution, but the 6.0.1 updated fixes the issue for good.

I have 6.0.1 on my galaxy Atab 8. I have problems with facebook app. The "whats on your mind " box is not on tbe main newsfeed page. If you tap top of page it appears, same with notifications, the last notification is hidden underneath the blue bar at top
I hate it even after following updates. I use to love my Moto G2 ext. Why did they ruin a good thing. Now I don't have the same nice camera usage as I did before; my phone no longer has cell site connection....it has none to garbled calls; no longer have same options to access or transfer data to my storage card. Lost all pictures and card had to be reformatted. Every update messes it up. Lost pix of my mom and dog shortly before both of their deaths...talk about how devistating that is to loose these pics. At this point, my love for Android phones is lost due to these updates, like I said before I loved my phone but now I may have to suck it up and go to the dark side and buy an iPhone.
Just got it, aesthetically it is butt ugly, wish I could get the old look back.
Downloaded 6.0.1 today in India on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910G). Does not seem to have many changes except the icons which are curved now. Samsung after 5.0.1 has given this update directly and nothing in between.

Among these changes only few changes are visible to me on Note 4. Like google now on tap feature, Android pay. There is only one single window for application manger (unlike different buckets in earlier version like downloaded, sd card etc.) Text selection works.
Features which are not visible are Settings shortcut, Lock screen, App drawer (vertical theme), Notification and quick settings, System UI tuner, dedicated google settings, Double tap to launch camera action
Notification bar is still same as 5.0.1.
App optimization, Delete screen shot from notification were already there in earlier version.
One bug I noted was that when you open the application manager and try to further open any app for details there, the pop show that "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped". This way I will not be able to clear data from the apps. This could be a big problem I suppose.
Please let me know if this bug can be fixed.
Although google now on tap seems to be exciting, overall, except for few minor things here and there I don't feel anything new and exciting about this update from 5.0.1 to 6.0.1.
Would be great if I could get a reply on whether I can get all the new updates with all features or is it that those will not be available on Note 4.
Note: These comments are based on spending few minutes on newer version. I need to look into few other features.
lost my ability to transfer photos to my Motog 2nd gen via usb. I would like to go back to lollipop
I have update on Marchmallow 6.0.1 from february and it works nice, without eny problems.
Cropping a photo was as easy as edit - crop. Now I can't figure out how to crop a photo. I wish android would leave better off alone.
I am using Motorola generation 3 which was working properly on connecting to pc or laptop. With latest update of marshmallow the cell phone icon shows up on my computer however the internal contents doesn't show up at all. It displays complete blank screen with no internal or sd card details. Now I am unable to move my cell phone images or videos. Can someone please help me to resolve this issue.
I have downloaded the update multiple times, but every time it actually goes to do the install, I get "error" (with a cute little graphic, of course) and it reboots without installing the update. I have a Nexus 6.
I own the Nexus 6 p. I'm not fond of marshmallow. If someone send you a phone number to call and the numbers are separated with a- you cannot just jump on the number and call it it tells you what is a bad number. I find is quite aggravating being in sales and having a call customers ASAP I didn't have to pull the car over write the number on a scratch paper and then put it into the phone

I'm stell waiting on 6.0.1, issue with MMS message which I received and never opend, I had. I hope that after update it will be fixed.
It,s fixed; with update to 6.0.1 on my Nexus 5 all works without problems.
received it yesterday 9 dec on the Nexus7 (2013) LTE version (Belgium)
