HTC's new Nexus just got a specs list
HTC is rumored to be designing two Nexus phones for release in 2016. Said to be going under the codenames 'Sailfish' and 'Marlin', we've now got our hands on what could be the specs of the larger of the two handsets.
Android Police published the information regarding the Nexus Marlin – the device we were unofficially calling the Nexus 6 (2016) – and said that there is a high likelihood that the rumor is accurate. This means the Nexus Marlin could feature the following:
- 5.5-inch AMOLED display with WQHD resolution (2,560 × 1,440 pixels)
- Quad-core Qualcomm processor
- 4 GB of RAM
- 32 or 128 GB of internal storage
- 3,450 mAh battery
- 12 MP main camera, 8 MP front camera
- Fingerprint sensor on the device rear
- USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.2
- Downward-facing speakers
Disappointingly, the leak does not specify the device's exact chipset, but it could be the popular Snapdragon 820, or perhaps an upgraded version of it, to be called a Snapdragon 821 or 823 (both of which were recently rumored).
Android Police referenced 32 and a 128 GB variants of the HTC Marlin and said a 64 GB version wasn't likely to appear. Perhaps Google did not see a demand for the 64 GB version of the Nexus 6P and thus planned no such version for the HTC Marlin.
Finally, Android Police said that the smaller Sailfish device was likely to have the same cameras, RAM, CPU and design language, acting as something more similar to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

I think that 64 gb would be better option than 32gb.I believe that would be a let down to everyone who has been keeping up with the new nexus from HTC. I personally would like to see an LG nexus with bigger screen and better ram say around 4gb, instead of the way they did the 5x.
No 64gb option or micro sd slot is very disappointing. Samsung made the wise move back to removable storage, hopefully everyone else follows suit
I hope the smallest has a display of about 4.7 to 5.0".
No front-facing speakers is a deal breaker for many. For me, it is.
Also, even though the 5.5" screen size seems to be the industry soft spot, what is really important is the phone footprint itself, so a 5.7" with a smarter bezel configuration would have been much better.
Finally, I am concerned about the battery life. HTC made proof, again and again, to not understand users needs when speaking of SoT and general battery life. I fear that this new Nexus iteration will be no exception: with such a great (useless) pixels count, the big battery will be easily drained, no matter the CPU.
I was waiting for the new Nexus to come out, and now I'm disappointed even before it does.
32gb or 128gb options only? Those are strange choices IMO. 32gb is too small and 128 is too big. Where's the middle ground option? Ditching either the 32 or 128 and having 64gb as one of the options would surely have made more sense?
Yep totally agree, this seems like a play to force people to buy the 128gb version (at about double the price of an SD card), as 32gb could be too small.
I have gotten really use to forward facing speakers on the Moto X Pure Edition. This makes the 6P look more interesting. If they would release the 6P with a stronger frame, SD820, and 4-6GB of RAM I would be very happy.
